ChitraGupta Swamy Temple is an ancient temple located in Kanchipuram, Tamilnadu. The temple has a traditional South Indian style, with features of a spectacular four-tier architecture, with delightful entrance called 'Rajagopuram'. There is only one temple in India that is dedicated to Shri Chitragupta Swamy, making the temple unique. On the day of the full moon in the Hindu calendar month of Chithrai, a special puja is held in the temple. Chitragupta Swamy in Kanchipuram is an ode to a deity who is believed to have the power to bring out our inner potential, and help us find the way that our inner conscious tries to show. The temple resides in the heart of Kanchipuram and thousands of devotees visit the temple to seek the blessing of the Lord Chitra Gupta. Lord Chitragupta keeps record of all the good and evil deeds of humans and accordingly decides to send them to heaven. Lord Brahma created Lord Chitragupta through the Sun God and he is considered the younger brother of Lord Yama. There are a large number of Worshippers and devoteed who come to the temple, to perform Pujas, especially during the Pournami. People believe that Lord Chitragupta is the Athi Devathai for Kethu which is one of the Lord Navagrahas. As Per legacy, Lord Chitragupta temple was built by Chola King. The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Chitragupta is seen in a sitting Posture holding the Pen in his right hand and a palm leaf in left symbolizing his nature of Work. The Utsava Panchaloka idol of Lord Chitragupta is seen with his consorts Goddess Karnikambal. It is believed that Lord Chitragupta is the Goddess Athi Devathai for Kethu, one of the Lord Navagrahas, and those who worship Lord Chitragupta at this temple, would be bestowed with Prosperity. Auspicious Chitra Pournami, and wedding celebrations are celebrated in this temple. Devotees offer cpmprises of cereals, seven lamps and multicolor clothes with an Abishekam.
