The Sri
Chalukya Kumararama Sri Bhimeswaraswamyvari temple is one of thePancharama Temples which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is located in Samalkota in the East Godavari, the state of Andhra
Pradesh.
The Shivalinga was installed by Lord Kumara Swamy, son of the Lord Shiva. Hence the temple is also known as
Kumararama Temple. Goddess Bala Tripurasundari is the consort of Lord Sri Kumara
Bhimeswara Swamy.
During Tarakasura vadha, the Shivalinga which was
broke into five pieces, one of the five pieces fell here. After that the temple was built by Eastern Chalukya
King Chalukya Bhima - I during 9th century.
The construction was done around 30 years. The Kakatiya rulers (1340-1466 CE) had added and renovated the temple pillars with very fine sharp finishes.
The Sri Kumara Bhimeswara Swamy temple is said to be Twin temple of Draksharama Temple. The reason behind that is the temple
premises is almost resemblance one of the Pancharama temples at Draksharama
which is also called Bhimarama Temple.
A unique
speciality of this temple is, the Shivalinga is alimestone, 14 feet
(4.3 m) hight and white in colour.The temple was built in Dravidian style by Chalukya
Bhima and construction of this temple started in the year 892 and finished
around 922 CE.
The temple was encircled by two prakara walls built
of dressed sand stones. The outer prakara penetrated by Gopura Entrance of all
four sides.
Surya Dwaram is the main entrance of the temple.A mandapa supported with a one hundred pillars and
four gopura dvaras have Artha mandapas on either side. The temple has a two
floored pillared mandapa in all the inner side. To the east side, there is a
mantap called Koneti. The temple has a lake which is called as Pushkarni (koneru).

Do not carry any weapon inside the temple.
Do not wear any head guards like helmets, caps, turbans and hats inside the temple premises.
Do not perform Sastanga Pranama inside the Sanctum Sanctorum.
Do not take much time while performing Sparsa Darshanam to God in Garbhagriha.
Do not buy spurious prasadams from street vendors.
Do not encourage beggars at Temple.
Do not spit or create nuisance in the premises of the temple.
