Draksharamam, is one of the most frequented pilgrim centres of South India. It is one of the Pancharama temples and one among 18 Shakti Peethas.

Draksharama is situated just 6 Kms away from Ramachandrapuram in East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh.Draksharamam is located at a distance of 28Km from Kakinada, 50Km from Rajahmundry and 25 Km from Amalapuram.

It is famous as both Shiva kshetra and Shakti kshetra. The temple is installed by Lord Surya. Lord Bheemeswara swamy and Manikyamba are the main deities. This place is also called as Dakshina Kashi.

During Tarakasura vadha, the Shiva Linga which was in the throat of Tarakasura broke into five pieces and one of the pieces fell here. Thereafter, it came to be known as Draksharamam.

After the death of Sati, the 12th part of her bodies that was her left cheek fell here which is now known in the form of Goddess Manikyamba.

The Draksharama temple is very big and has a three big circle as compounds. The specialty of this Shiva Lingam is that, the early morning tender Sun light falls on the Linga. There are nearly 800 ancient scripts on the walls of the temple.

The other shrines in the temple are Brahma, LakshmiNarayana Ganapati, Nakulesvara, Anjaneya, Virupaksha, Nataraja, Kuamara Swamy, Mahisasuramardhini, Saptamatrikas, Bhirava, Viswewwara and Annapurna.

To the right side of Bhimeswara Temple, Kasi Visweswara Temple (South facing) is situated. On the Eastern door (Dwara) Goddess Gogulamma, Western gate Nookambika, Northern side Moodhambike and at Southern side, Ghattambike can be seen.

Draksharama Temple was developed and supported by many Royal Dynasties like Eastern Chalukyas, Kalyani Chalukyas, Cholas, Eastern Gangas, Kakatiyas, Reddi Kings and Vijayanagaras as well as some minor dynasties. Vemulavada Bhima kavi is a famous Telugu poet born in Vemulawada .He got boons from Lord Sri Bhimeswaraswamy at this temple.

Do not carry any weapon inside the temple.
Do not wear any head guards like helmets, caps, turbans and hats inside the temple premises.
Do not perform Sastanga Pranama inside the Sanctum Sanctorum.
Do not take much time while performing Sparsa Darshanam to God in Garbhagriha.
Do not buy spurious prasadams from street vendors.
Do not encourage beggars at Temple.
Do not spit or create nuisance in the premises of the temple.
