Thirumoorthy Temple is situated at the foot of the Thirumoorthy hills .The scenic beauty of the Anamalai hill range of Western Ghats, includes the cascading water to the Thirumoorthy reservoir from the Panchalingam Falls.

A perennial stream flows by the side of the Sri Amalingeswarar temple. The presiding deity of ThiruMoorthy Temple is called Amalingeshwara.

The temple timings :

Thirumoorthy Temple opens from 6.00 am to 6.00 pm. Pooja is conducted only on Sundays 12.00 to 1.00 pm. Special poojas are conducted on all other days.

Lord Shiva in the temple has many names as Mummorthi Andavar, Tirumurthi Andavar and Amanalingeswarar. The name Amanalingeswarar represents the story of celebrated Rishi Pathni Anusuya who served the Three Murthis in a nude manner.

Sandal paste worship is famous in the temple. Devotees throw the sandal balls on the Lord. If the ball falls and sticks on the forehead of the Lord, it means their prayers are granted.

Lord Shiva graces here as a Guru, hence Lord Dakshinamurthi worship is considered very important in the temple.

Thirumoorthy Temple also called as Arulmigu Amanalingeswarar Temple is located at at the foot of the hill adjacent to Thirumoorthy Dam in Coimbatore , TamilNadu. This Temple is dedicated to ThiruMoothy (Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma).

Importance of this temple is Three Moorthy Idols originate in same place. This temple is one of the most popular religious sites in Coimbatore.

It is believed that a few thousand years ago Athari Maharishi along with his wife Anushiya devi lived here. Moved by their prayer, Lord Shiva together with Brammah and Vishnu (Thiru Moorthigal) came in disguise to test their devotion.

Overwhelmed by their appearance the couple offered them tribute. The Thiru Moorthigal refused to accept their offerings as such and demanded that the offering should be made by Anushiya devi in nudity.

She accepted their demand and with her power of devotion she changed the Thiru Moorthi's into 3 years old babies and fed them.

On seeing the power of devoting Anushiya devi, the Thiru Moorthi's blessed the couple and hence the place is known as Thiru Moorthi hills. So this Temple is called Thirumoorthi Temple.
